Where It All Began

Celebrating 25 years in game development

EArly History

Idol Minds was founded in 1997 in Boulder, Colorado by former employees of Sony Interactive Studios America in San Diego, including current owner Mark Lyons. Our studio opened with just a few employees and quickly grew while creating titles for Sony for the PlayStation consoles and PlayStation Network. After early hits with the Cool Boarders series, Idol Minds went on to create Neopets: Darkest Faerie on the Playstation 2, and the hit PSN game, PAIN, and many more. In 2017, we changed directions to focus on narrative driven games like Life Is Strange: Before the Storm for Square Enix. At that time, we were re-branded as DECK NINE GAMES.
